 Best Practices for Enabling
your Information Lifecycle Management
Strategy
Records
Management (RM) and Information Lifecycle Management (ILM)
initiatives are top-of-mind for many large organizations
worldwide. Benefits of having a single, central console
for managing the retention of documents (e.g., email, IM,
Microsoft Office files, PDFs, web content) include cost
savings associated with discovery and storage, and lower risk
associated with having a common set of policies applied to all
electronic content in an organization.
Best
practices that will help an organization take a practical
first step toward achieving success with an RM or ILM strategy
include:
1)
Start with your most important content first
2)
Use the right application for the right
problem
3)
Keep records "in place"
4)
Make your infrastructure as flexible as
possible
5)
Ensure
policies (and subsequent audits) are closely tied to each
repository but not hard wired

Requirements by 50% with Email Archiving
A
diversified consumer lending institution offering a
complete line of real estate loan products; has over 135
locations across the United States and relies heavily on
email communications, and Microsoft

as a means of corresponding with their various office
locations and with nationwide employees, clients and
other parties.
After
evaluating a number of products, they implemented

Tip:
•
Remember
to set RightFax service startup back to default settings after
troubleshooting
Sometimes when
network administrators are troubleshooting operating system
issues, they may need to change these startup settings.
Great care must be taken though, as misconfigured service
startups can cause significant problems, up to and including a
complete inability of RightFax to function.

Tip:
•
Best practice for
making user changes in EAS
Changing the
status of an EAS enabled user from the Active Directory
affects the user in the EAS environment. This could happen in
a number of scenarios, ranging from the user being deleted,
the user's name changes, the user's mailbox is deleted,
the user is hidden from the Exchange Address List or if it
the user is disabled in the Active Directory.
