Availability of RightFax 8.5 Service Pack 4
Captaris announces immediate availability of RightFax 8.5 SP4 on the Web

October 16, 2003 - Captaris is pleased to announce the availability of the RightFax Version 8.5 Service Pack 4 (SP 4), on the Captaris Support web site at: www.captaris.com/customer_support/hotfixes/4225.html

8.5 SP4 OVERVIEW 

SP4 is a service pack complement to the core RightFax 8.5 product released in October of 2002. SP4 is intended to patch an existing RightFax 8.5 installation, and it contains more than 300 customer reported fixes.

The RightFax 8.5 SP4 can be installed in various components, depending on the requirements. A total of nine (9) download “packages” are available on the web site mentioned above. One, several or all packages can be downloaded and installed on any RightFax 8.5 version. It is recommended that you contact Technical Support to determine which components of the RightFax 8.5 SP4 are required.

COMPATIBILITY

The RightFax 8.5 SP4 components must be installed in a RightFax 8.5 environment. Operating systems that are supported include:

ORDERING PART NUMBERS AND MSLP

Currently, there is no ordering part number required to download and utilize the RightFax 8.5 SP 4. It is available free of charge on the web site mentioned previously. Captaris will announce the availability of a Software CD, which will include the complete SP4 for RightFax 8.5 in November 2003.

COMPONENTS OF THE RIGHTFAX 8.5 SERVICE PACK 4 (The Service Pack has nine components available for download)

> Server

This service pack contains minor new features and fixes for the RightFax server software and fax board drivers. It includes support for Brooktrout TR1034 fax boards.

> RightFax Financial Server

This service pack contains minor new features and fixes for the RightFax Financial Server software and fax board drivers. It includes support for the Brooktrout 1034 boards.

> Client Applications

This service pack contains minor new features and fixes for FaxUtil, Enterprise Fax Manager, and the Microsoft Outlook forms. It also updates the RightFax printer drivers that allow faxing directly from the client desktop and supported applications. The service pack is available in English, French, French-Canadian, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.

> Remote BoardServer

This service pack contains software fixes for the 8.5 version of the RightFax Remote BoardServer that lets you install and access fax boards on computers separate from the RightFax server.

> Administrative Utilities

This service pack contains software fixes for the RightFax Administrative Utilities, which provide RightFax administrators with advanced administrative tools that support the RightFax server software.

> Enterprise Fax Manager Web Edition

The service pack contains fixes for Enterprise Fax Manager Web Edition, which is a browser-based application that lets RightFax administrators manage data and services on RightFax servers.

> VIM and MAPI Printer Drivers

The service pack contains fixes for the RightFax VIM and MAPI printer drivers, which let users create and send RightFax documents as e-mail attachments. The VIM printer drivers support this functionality for Lotus Notes and Lotus cc:Mail. The MAPI printer drivers support Microsoft Outlook and any MAPI-compliant e-mail program.

> Web Client

This service pack contains fixes for the RightFax Web Client, which is a browser-based application that allows users to access and manage their RightFax mailboxes from the Web.

> XML Interface and Java API

This service pack contains fixes for the RightFax XML Interface and Java API. The XML Interface converts XML to Fax Control Language (FCL) for use with the RightFax Integration Module. The Java API allows Java developers to create and send XML to the RightFax server.
